OUGD603 - Brief 06 - DBA - Research


After the DBA briefing my group decided to research in to some city branding that already existed, We looked at a multitude of different designs and concepts. One thing that became clear was that all were bright, bold and eye catching.






The Porto branding makes use of one bold statement colour. This is a design feature that we will try and use in our design.



The Melbourne city branding utilise pattern and colour to create an eye catching and colourful design identity. I think the use of patterns and colour creates great visual variation but the single logo provides unity for the brand as a whole.





The Orto Botanico and Shrewsbury branding utilise a strong sense of grid and layout. The simple patterns layer up to create a greater entity.



When researching we discovered that lots of successful brands using moving image and animation to create an eye catching and engaging identity. This is something that i am keen to try and recreate for our design brief.
