In conjunction with the talk from Design Something More they also delivered a live brief. The brief topic was to take a mundane theme and brand it to make the user experience enjoyable and engaging. we were then individually assigned either a water supplier, a library, a retirement home or a city council to brand. I was assigned a water supplier.
WATER SUPPLIER -
WHAT IS A WATER SUPPLIER?
COST OF EVERYDAY WATER USE?
- Showers use up to 40 litres: 9p
- Baths use 80 litres: 18p
- Watering the garden uses 540 litres an hour: £1.19
- Flushing the toilet uses up to 9.5 litres: 2p
- Dishwasher uses 24 litres: 4p
I then researched in to existing water suppliers.
I then researched in to existing water suppliers.
The main issue i discovered about the existing water companies was that they were all very corporate and none were very distinctive.
One of the problems I also found was that many water companies go unnoticed, many people don't even realise what they are paying for or why they are paying for it. I plan to create a more user friendly fun water supplier.
Aesthetic research -
I then researched in to aesthetics. I decided to call my water company Pipeline, as it relates to water. It is also related to the phrase 'In the pipeline'.
