OUGD603 - Brief 11 - Rebecca Ishaque Branding - Development

I created a range of different logos for Rebecca based on the meeting and research that we had. I decided to test some hand drawn type as well as some serif fonts. The hand drawn typefaces are what Rebecca had asked for, however i thought i would create a wide range of design that i thought would work.

I think the hand drawn typefaces fit Rebecca's specifications, however i feel that they aren't professional looking and would suit a wedding photographer more. Rebecca agreed and asked if i could develop a couple of the above further. The process of getting to this stage was a compromise as Rebecca was very indecisive about what she actually wanted.

Talking with Rebecca we decided that the colour of the branding should be understated and soft, I experimented with a range of different colours, including greys, pinks and lilacs.

Rebecca decided that the serif logo was the strongest and this was the one she wanted me to pursue further.

I experimented the colour choices further. I needed to evaluate whether the colour would work across all platforms of design and stand out.

The finished business card is clear and readable. The soft colours provide a great compliment to Rebecca's photography but don't over shadow it. I also created an envelope and cover letter for Rebecca's personal branding.

Rebecca said that eventually she wanted a portfolio designing, but her photographs weren't ready yet. As a result i decided to design her a range of postcards. These are useful to show not only her branding and details but also her photography. I think the logo works well with the photography and is clear and readable but not over powering.

The next stage of the design process was to create Rebecca's online presence. She was using Cargo Collective. I added her logo and helped to code the layout.

Over all i am really happy with the outcome of this brief. Although it was challenging at times it was great to push my self and work to a clients needs whilst still retaining my design integrity.
